Placali (or Plakali) is a staple West African food, particularly in Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana, made from fermented cassava dough cooked into a smooth, slightly sweet, and tangy paste, similar to fufu or banku. It is traditionally prepared by grinding and beating cassava with water, then fermenting the paste before it’s cooked with hot water. Placali is typically eaten with various sauces, such as okra or palm nut soup.
